Scarf Care Instructions

Washing –hand wash only

Do not run water onto the scarf while filling the sink.  It may cause felting of the wool.

1.Fill the sink with lukewarm water and add detergent designed for washing wool ( I use Ecover Delicate Laundry Liquid). Immerse the scarf and leave it for about 10 minutes.

2. Gently squeeze  the scarf few times  in the water, gather it in your hands and take it out squeezing it gently to get the excess water out. Do not wring.

3. Put the scarf aside and fill the sink with water of same temperature as was the water you just got the scarf out from, let the water soak into the scarf.

Repeat the point 2.-3.  2-3 times.

Drying

Take longer towel, put it onto ironing board and put the scarf onto the towel, spreading it to shape, do not stretch. Most likely you will accommodate about half of the scarf on the towel, leave the other half of the scarf just in the little pile at the end of the towel. Roll the towel from the end where the tassels are odds to the other end of the towel squeezing gently.  Do not roll over the part of the scarf that has not been spread into the shape yet.

Unroll the towel, gently roll up the partly dried part of the scarf and repeat with the second half of the scarf.

Hang the scarf over a round rail (normal clothes rail works well). Depending how much water was removed, there may be a bit of water dripping from the tassels while drying.

Ironing

Straighten the scarf on the ironing board; always cover the scarf with piece cotton fabric, set the iron on two dots (marked wool/cotton) and steam iron moving the iron over the cotton fabric. Alternatively you may use dampened cotton cloth and non steaming iron setting two dots. Do not keep the iron too long in one spot, slide over the cotton fabric.

Repeat above till you get to the other end of the scarf. Iron in the same way other side of the scarf.

Tassels –straighten them to the right direction before ironing over the cloth as the scarf above. Iron very briefly, otherwise they may felt a bit.
